Gordon Country

Gordon Country is bush camping retreat that has been welcoming guests for 40 years. I've been going there for the last 24 years, starting from a baby to where I am now, sharing it with my fiance. It caters for a wide variety of people as it has quiet bush retreats with no facilities, or to a cabin with showers depending on your style and also caters to 4wders from novice to experienced - the black soil after rain increases the difficulty nicely.

For Christmas at the end of 2011 we packed up our 1992 75 series Landcruiser Ute to go camping. Previous camping experiences were using a 2009 SR5 Hilux with all the trimmings so this was the first trip in the 'truck' with only the basics around. Certainly a bit of a change, bumpy as, no air-con and hell-loud thanks to the complete lack of sound-proofing on a beautiful 33 degree summer's day without a single could to be seen - beautiful camping weather once you've arrived and sitting creekside.

The setup mainly consisted of boxes loaded up and strapped on the tray with an oztent keeping our heads nice and dry no matter the weather.

We quickly set everything up and comfied up into our camp chairs.

While we were Katrina had her first drive of the truck on the dirt and liked the unbeatable toughness and its ability to pointed at anything and get up. One of her biggest problems though was quite a stubborn calf who was being egged on his mum to stand his ground. He eventually succumbed and moved to the side but not before placing a deposit in front of the wheel for us driver over.
